Ohio's Historical Field Trip Opportunities
Ohio is filled with rich history from every corner of the state. That's why I want to share with you a series of historical field trip ideas for the summer.

The first up is an outdoor drama based upon the life of the great Native American Shawnee Tribe Cheif Tecumseh. It is set in the 18th century during the time when the English speaking men sought to lay claim to Tecumseh's homeland in the Ohio valley. Located in Chillicothe, Ohio (Ohio's first Capitol city) which is less than one hour from the Columbus, this drama is conveniently located near US Route 35.
1. Tecumseh Outdoor Drama
Imagine sitting with your children under the beautiful star filled sky of Ohio and witnessing an historical drama of the long ago story (18th Century) of Tecumseh leader of the Shawnee nation of Native Americans as he seeks to defend his territory in Ohio lands from invaders.

- Shows availabe June 6 through August 30 Monday - Saturday during the 2014 season.
- Located in Chilicothe, Ohio just 47 miles from the state capitol of Columbus.

- Arrive early (6:45 is recommended on Saturday).
- Advanced tickets required all seats are reserved.
- Shows will continue through light rain and NO umbrellas are permitted. (So be sure to pack some ponchos).
- Drama is NOT recommended for children under age 6 due to violence and loud battle scenes.
- Spend the afternoon touring the facilities with Living History Tour (3:00 p.m.) and the Behind the Scenes tour (4:00 & 5:00 p.m.) Additional cost of $4.50 adult & $3.50 child 10 and under for each of the tours.
- Meals are available in the Tecumseh Terrace (Reservations recommended).
- Snack bar is open from 4:00 p.m. throughout the show.
- Group rates available for groups of 25 or more.
As you can see this field trip opportuniy offers more than ust a drama. With tours of both the facility and the living history you can expand upon the trip and dive in to learning about Tecumseh and Native Americans.
